application of ZELOS capacitive level sensor

Applications for the ZELOS capacitive level sensor include CIP washing plants, silos and water and wastewater management, among others.

What media can the limit level indicator be used for?

The JUMO ZELOS C01 LS level beacon is suitable for monitoring the level of many media, both liquids and solids. It is used in identifying the level of wastewater, drinking water, sand, mineral and transformer oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, various chemical solutions such as sodium hydroxide (20% solution at 20°C) or acids such as nitric (90% solution at 20°C) and sulfuric (5% solution at 20°C), among others, as well as in monitoring substances such as toluene, acetone, ammonia and hydrogen peroxide. The hygienic PEKA tip also allows the ZELOS C01 to be used in the food industry to measure the level of juices, beverages, syrups and honey, for example. In addition, thanks to its ability to distinguish between the measuring medium and foam, the ZELOS C01 is ideal for use with dairy products or beer, among others. It will also be great for detecting the boundary level of bulk materials in silos, such as grain or corn.

Is the capacitive level sensor adhesion resistant?

Yes, the ZELOS C01 LS capacitive boundary level sensor is adhesion resistant, meaning that it is designed to avoid problems associated with the adhesion of medium particles to its surface. As a result, even in the presence of substances that can stick, such as some liquids or solids, ZELOS is able to reliably and accurately monitor the level of the medium.

Can the limit level sensor be used to signal the level of chocolate?

Yes, the ZELOS C01 limit level sensor suitable for monitoring the level of higher density media such as chocolate. Its process connection is made of hygienic materials in accordance with EHEDG.

How will the limit level sounder react to foam (f.e. in milk)?

The ZELOS C01 LS capacitive limit level beacon is equipped with technology that allows it to distinguish between the measuring medium and foam. As a result, in case of the presence of foam, e.g. in milk, ZELOS is able to correctly identify the actual level of the medium, without recognizing the foam as a liquid. As a result, this device provides accurate level measurements even in the presence of foam, making it ideal for applications in the food industry, where such conditions are relatively common.

Can a capacitive level sensor be used on ash?

Yes, but the key factor here is the temperature. If the ash is hot, it is important that its temperature does not exceed the maximum allowable temperature for ZELOS C01 LS, which is up to 200°C.

How does the capacitive level sensor deal with dust?

The JUMO ZELOS C01 LS is adhesion-resistant, which means it is designed to avoid problems associated with the adhesion of media particles to its surface, which could interfere with its operation. It therefore copes with dust and does not allow deposited particles to interfere with its operation. As a result, it is able to reliably monitor the level of the medium, even in dusty conditions.

How does the level sensor detect the presence of, for example, corn/corn in the buffer tank, frequent filling and emptying?

JUMO ZELOS C01 LS is a capacitive level sensor that works on the basis of changes in electrical capacitance caused by the presence of a medium in its vicinity. As a result, it is able to effectively detect the level of solids, such as corn or rapeseed. In addition, the ZELOS C01 LS is capable of responding quickly to changes in level, which is crucial in dynamically changing buffer tank conditions. Its resistance to adhesion ensures that it can function properly even in the presence of corn or rapeseed particles adhering to its surface.

Can the ZELOS C01 point level sensor measure the level of hot coal dust?

The key factor is the temperature of this coal dust. If its temperature within the range allowed for ZELOS C01 LS (up to 200°C) it can be used for this application.

Can the level indicator be applied to cement?

Yes. Our ZELOS level sensor allows easy calibration for cement level measurement using the 'Teach-In' function. This process, which uses a permanent magnet, allows the device to be quickly adjusted to the medium without the need for software, ensuring simplicity and efficiency in use.

What type of level measurement should be used for tanks with fruit concentrate?

The choice of the appropriate level measurement type for tanks with fruit concentrate depends on several factors, such as the physicochemical properties of the concentrate, environmental conditions, and accuracy requirements of the measurement. Here are some popular methods:

  • Hydrostatic Probes: Hydrostatic level measurement uses the pressure of the liquid to determine its level. This is a good solution for liquids with a uniform density, such as fruit concentrates.
  • Capacitive Level Sensors: They utilize changes in electrical capacitance caused by the change in the level of the liquid, like the JUMO ZELOS C01. We recommend them for level measurements in tanks with fruit concentrate due to their high accuracy, reliability, and non-contact nature of measurement. They are particularly useful in the food industry, where hygiene and avoiding contamination are key. Additionally, their resistance to changes in liquid properties, as well as easy installation and minimal maintenance, make them an efficient solution.
